Our client is a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry located in Chicago's northern suburbs. We are currently assiting them in their search for a Director - Financial Reporting to direct the overall financial reporting process, including all SEC filings, Consolidations, internal monthly reporting and technical accounting research and guidance. The role requires a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the financial consolidation and reporting process; accounting theory (IFRS and US GAAP) and practice; SEC compliance and external reporting; financial systems plus acquisitions and divestiture accounting required. Honesty, integrity, leadership, initiative and flexibility are required characteristics of the ideal candidate. This is a highly visible role involving interaction with all levels of personnel throughout the corporation, as well as with external auditors/attorneys/underwriters. Strong people skills and the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all levels of management in a confident manner are required. Also, the Director - Financial Reporting must have the ability to solve problems on a variety of issues.
Responsibilities include:
- Overall responsibility for the preparation of all external financial reporting including: SEC quarterly report on Form 10Q; SEC annual report on Form 10K; and other SEC filings as business conditions warrant. Coordination of the external reporting process wtih departments.
- Responsible for the review and understanding of new pronouncements as they are issued by accounting and governmental regulatory agencies (SEC, FASB) in order to adapt company accounting policies and financial reporting and disclosure in external reporting, as necessary.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on unusual/infrequent transactions, including accounting guidance to business development and maintenance of corporate accounting policies.
- Global oversight of monthly close and consolidation process.
- Global oversight of foreign statutory filings.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- CPA Required
- 12 Years Related Experience, Big 4 Experience Preferred
- MBA Preferred
- Experience with IFRS Accounting and Reporting is a Plus
