Human Resources and Talent Development - Northern Suburbs

Location:  Northern Suburbs

Required Experience:   7-14 Years 

Our client is a multi-million dollar, and growing, pharmaceutical company located in Chicago's Northern suburbs.  They are currently searching for two talented individuals to add to their talent acquisition and HR team, an Associate Director, HR and Associate Director, Talent Development.  Our client prides itself on its unique work culture where a high standard of ethics is mandatory, diversity is valued, and individual initiative is awarded.

The Associate Director, HR plays an important role in the success of the company by being responsible for directing human resource policies and programs that support achievement of the company's business objectives.  This is a partnership role with the managment of the sales and marketing organizationa as well as an employee advocate on business issues.  The position directs human resources activities for the sales and marketing organizations, functioning as a human resources "generalist".  Additionally, the Associate Director, HR is to stay informed of competetive practices, ensuring the company's policies and programs are designed to attract and retain employees while complying with state and federal laws and regulations.  Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in HR or Business
  • Master preferred
  • 7-10 years of experience including working with field sales organizations. Pharmaceutical or Health Care experience preferred
  • Demonstrated HR Generalist knowledge required, specifically employment law
  • Some travel required, up to 25%

The Associate Director, Talent Development plays a key role by developing our talent team from their first day through successful, impactful careers.  This role will develop and implement the Talent Review and Succession Planning process to ensure that they are building a strong team for now and the future.  The Associate Director, Talent Development will also take ownership for building an innovative Career Pathing portal for employees to use in building solid careers in partnership with the HR Generalists.  This role will support the design and development of impactful and experiential learning and development opportunities throughout the organization through a newly launched curriculum.  Utilizing extensive background in Talent Development including talent review, succession planning, career pathing, performance management, strong facilitation skills, innovative instructional design perspectives, and a solid organizational development focus, this role will contribute significantly to the professional growth of individuals throughout the organization and to the overall development of the company into a high performing organization and the employer of choice in the pharmaceutical industry.

The Associate Director, Talent Development must demonstrate strong stand-up facilitation skills, a keen understanding of organizational and group process dynamics, as well as strategic and tactical abilities.  The individual must also be a strong program coordinator/project manager with excellent oral and written communication & marketing skills.  Must be able to successfully partner with a wide variety of individuals across the organization from executives, to managers, to employees at all levels.  Must generate and take initiative, use problem-solving skills and creativity to overcome obstacles, and work collaboratively under pressure to develop sound programs and solid solutions.  Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree
  • Advanced Degree in HR, Training & Development, Organization Development or Industrial/Organizational Psychology preferred
  • Certificate or Degree emphasis in Instructional Design preferred
  • 10-14 years experience in training & development field, organizational development field, or talent development field
  • Experience in performance management, talent review, succession planning, and career pathing
  • Strong stand-up facilitation skills with corporate employee population, managers and leaders; must be able to effectively deliver to a high-level senior audience
  • Must be skilled in experiential training and accelerated learning techniques
  • Experience in change management, organizational change, or other organizational initiatives preferred
  • Strong presence and presentation skills
  • Well developed professional maturity, judgement, and critical thinking
  • Strong problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and use of creativity
  • Ability to work well with multiple areas of the organization including sales & marketing, research & development, and general & administrative functions
  • Strong project coordination and project management skills
  • Solid group process and team intervention skills
  • Sound management skills, leadership abilities, and ability to style shift with various personality styles
  • Developed ability to give direct feedback, coach others, and create learning opportunities
