Senior Director of Accounting - Northern Suburbs

Description:

Our client is a leader in the pharmaceutical industry located in Chicago's northern suburbs.  They are currently searching for a Senior Director of Accounting to lead the financial reporting and budgeting functions, encompassing statutory and managerial accounting/reporting. Coordinate interactions with public auditors, review actual financial performance compared to budget, and interact with Corporate on general accounting matters.  Manage the Accounting organization of up to 15 employees to achieve performance and development accountability.

• Direct responsibility for interpretation and implementation of Financial Accounting Standards initiated by regulatory accounting bodies throughout Corporate entities. (i.e. International Accounting Standards, U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, etc.).
• Establishment and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls systems.
• Assist in the establishment and implementation of systems to meet J-Sox requirements.
• Direct responsibility for financial reporting systems including SAP, BW, and BPC.
• Analytical support for various initiatives (i.e. long term incentive plan, health insurance, and post-retirement).
• Prepare and manage departmental budget, as well as planning for staffing, systems development, third party consultants, and other expenses. Responsible for interim forecasting of department spending and accounting for variance to budget and forecast.
• Responsible for leading the Accounting organization. This includes managing performance to objectives, recognizing performance, and developing employees to their potential. This also includes managing performance issues in the Accounting organization.

Requirements:

• Advanced Degree in Business or equivalent experience required.
• CPA required.
• Ten plus years related experience required. Pharma industry preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to translate between technical and business leaders at the highest levels.
• Expertise in overseeing consolidations, financial reporting, and audit management required
• Strong people and project management skills required.
• Experienced working within a Sarbanes-Oxley environment strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of SAP and Excel software packages preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of motivating and influencing teams.
• Demonstrated ability to perform at the highest levels, and lead independently.
