Description:
Our client is an international, multi billion dollar leader in it's industry conveniently located in Chicago's Loop. We are assisting them in their search for a Tax Specialist to assist with the company's income tax activities. This position will coordinate preparation of the consolidated tax return in Chicago with data provided by segment tax offices. Additionally, this position will involve computing the consolidated estimated tax payments and extnesion calculations. Secondarily, there will be some research and documentation of federal tax issues and transactions, involvement with the IRS audit including assisting with the coordination and response to IRS inquiries, involvement with the preparation of the company's financial reporting requirements for income taxes. Teaming on tax planning initiatives and special projects to maximize the company's federal income tax position. The individual will need to coordinate and team with other corporate federal tax members, members of the business tax offices, other non-tax people within the company. The Tax Specialist will gain extensive and specialized knowledge of existing and new internal controls and processes to ensure system integrity and compliance with accounting system requirements and company internal control guidelines and requirements. The ideal candidate will possess the the skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources with clients, customers and/or suppliers. The incumbent must also have extensive and specialized knowledge of infrastructure architecture used to account for and correctly archive documents.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- Master's degree and/or CPA preferred
- 5+ years of federal income tax experience including compliance, research, planning and FAS109 in a Fortune 500 environment
- Working knowledge of MS Office applications
- Strong experience with return preparation software a plus
- Experience with tax accounting rules and tax methods in general
